The Digital Revolution
The digital revolution is upon us. To be successful in today's business world, it is crucial to have the knowledge and understanding of computers and their uses. Technology continues to advance and computers are increasingly extending into more and more facets of our daily living.

People everyday use computers for a variety of applications. Through computers today, society has access to information from all around the glove; at your fingertips, you can send messages to others, shop and conduct business transactions within seconds.

To ensure that you succeed in today's digital world, it is imperative that you become computer literate. The Malaysian Government is taking active steps to build a workforce that will increase the level of information technology in the country. It is almost a prerequisite now to be equipped with computer skills no matter what industry you enter into at the marketplace. Amongst the first questions an interviewer may ask would include "What productivity software can you use?" "Are you comfortable with the worldwide web, emailing & doing business transactions via the Internet?"

It is therefore of paramount importance for everyone to receive formal training and acquire basic qualifications in not just the sciences of computing but more importantly the practical hands-on skills in computer usage.

In today's market there is no skill quite as important and far-reaching as the ability to use at to its maximum potential.

The Programme
The Certificate in Computer Applications Technology is divided into two parts:

  1. Business Computing Applications
  2. Computer Literacy for the 21st Century
1.    Business Computing Applications will introduce students to the fundamentals of Information Technology and will enable the candidates to set-up, configure and maintain a PC at their workplace and at the same time be proficient in the usage of productivity applications software in the daily business transactions.

2.    Computer Literacy for the 21st Century. As society experiences one of the most important chanes globally i.e the move to an Internet-based society, students will be education on the significant changes this has on the manner business are conducted in the marketplace.

Students will be trained on the basic understanding of the worldwide web, the key functions of emailing and web-browsers, and how basic web pages are created and websites hosted plus the concept of E-commerce and doing businesses via the Internet.

Methodology
In order for the programme of this nature to have an impact on candidates, more time will be given in the adaptin and coaching process, and at the same time candidates are allowed to digest and internalise the dubject matter.

This programme will be conducted over a perod of 3 months and will be delievered thorugh a combination of:
  • Hands-on COmputer Tutorials
  • Lectures
  • Workshops
  • Group discussions
