Course Summary

Course Content
The first year modules will provide you with the valuable foundation for developing your practical business and administration skills and to prepare for your further progression to higher business-related qualifications. Business organisation module will give an overview of the business set up, practices and operations on short and long-term basis. You will learn about the importance of effectiveness at individual and group levels in ensuring effective organisation’s performance. You will also learn how to solve financial problems and put together financial information, which will help managers run their business efficiently and to make important business decisions. You will also learn to appreciate the wider influences of external forces on businesses by looking at the impact and economic change has on them. The importance of marketing activities for a business organisation will also be covered at this foundation level. Finally, you will gain the computer skills needed to operate effectively in a business environment.

In Year 2 you will build on your foundation skills by learning to deal with more challenging areas and issues of managing organisation’s resources, more complex business decisions and learn to appreciate the issues involved in the financial management of the organisation.

You will also learn to prepare a financial forecast and to incorporate the international dimension in decision-making. In order to give a complete picture of the business environment, legal issues will be explored in Business Law module. Finally you will develop your understanding of the role IT plays in developing proper and functioning databases for organisation, which is important for information storage and retrieval.

Careers and Progression
This Business Administration course is suitable for those who wish to take up middle management positions. You will be able to find work in a variety of business and administration positions. Studying at this level will expose you to corporate business and management aspects.

You will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out managerial duties effectively and efficiently. You will also gain enhanced human skills that will enable you to manage your subordinates and colleagues better.

Alternatively, you may wish to use the qualification to enter university at year 3 level where you can pursue a final year Degree in Business Administration, which could lead to many professional qualifications as well.

Joining this Course
If you are a school-leaver, then usually you will need to have at least 2 STPM passes. If you are over 21 years of age, then you may have other qualifications or training and/or appropriate work experience, which would be suitable for entry to this programme. If you are a SPM school leaver, you can also qualify for this programme by pursuing the Certificate in Business Administration with TLMC.
